The participation of Rhodes iconographer Georgia Kouri has been approved in the International Art Competition in Manhattan, New York, with her work entitled “Panagia Tsambika of rhodes”. Georgia Kouri’s participation will be in digital format.

The first 25 artists who will be distinguished in the above competition will be included in the “Top Selection” group, which is a very important network of art professionals. In fact, they will be published in the well-known New York newspaper “la Repubblica”. The Exhibition The artist invites the people of Rhodes in New York and the Greeks in Astoria, New York, to attend the Exhibition, which will be held at the One Art Space Gallery at (23 Warren Street-level-Gallery 1. New York, 10007). The Exhibition will take place from July 29 to August 4. The presence and support of the public will particularly honor the artist. Ms. Kouri’s creation, entitled “Our Lady of Rhodes Tsambika” is the first work she has ever painted on canvas. She chose to exhibit it, as she says, to honor the Virgin Mary and her island, Rhodes. A few words about the artist The icon painter, Georgia Kouri, was born in New York, to Greek parents. She herself grew up and has lived in Rhodes since the age of thirteen. She first started taking icon painting lessons in 2008. She has taken part in several exhibitions. She has been taught the principles of the Cretan School of icon painting, as well as Byzantine Traditional Art, using egg tempera. She has also obtained two certificates. Finally, she has attended icon painting lessons with the distinguished icon painter, Archontia Karakosta.
